PurposeThis project is expected to involve the installation of 37 CCTV cameras across 3 highly used community recreation venues within the City of Rockingham. Each location has experienced a significant level of anti'social behaviour, vandalism and graffiti. Crime rates at these locations have previously reduced with the placement of temporary CCTV. This project will allow the City to install permanent CCTV infrastructure which will reduce negative behaviour and increase community perception of safety, therefore increasing participation. It will also reduce maintenance costs and assist police in collecting intelligence to anticipate and detect criminal activity.

PurposeThe project aim is to create a plan for complete site rehabilitation and undertake works in Big Bend recreation area, located North of Charters Towers along the Burdekin River. This 162 ha area is well known by local and regional community as it offers opportunities for fishing, swimming and camping in a bush natural setting. However it has been degraded due to heavy off road activities and misuse leading to severe gully erosion and weed infestation. The project will rehabilitate major gullied areas by earthwork and revegetation, manage invasive plants notably Praxelis as well as increasing visitor environmental awareness of the site to prevent future degradation and increase visitor enjoyment of the site.

PurposeIn our small rural school in Far North Queensland, we wanted to embed a STEM-based approach to teaching and learning across the school. Our aim was to bring more purposeful, problem-based, hands-on, creative activities into our classrooms to engage our students and develop their skills as 21st century learners. To facilitate this in all classrooms, we decided to set up a mobile maker space, which could be easily transported. We equipped our mobile maker space with LEGO WeDo 2.0, and our teachers with the Lego s Education Curriculum, and set about building our students confidence and sparking their creativity through making.

PurposeThe project will upgrade the water supply infrastructure in Normanton town, including installation of a raw water irrigation line to key businesses and public areas to reduce the operational costs of the water treatment plant and provide a cost-effective solution ensuring key areas remain irrigated throughout the dry season. Water for irrigation is currently sourced from the water treatment plant and has been identified through recent data collection to consume up to 20% of the total treated water within the Shire. The operational costs of the water treatment plant can be reduced significantly by completion of this project. By providing a cost-effective solution to allow key areas to irrigate throughout the dry season, it will aim to improve the overall aesthetics of the town and increase tourism within the Shire.
